Hey everyone, welcome to another episode of Tech Riffs. My name is Killian, and I’m the Field Manager here at Worksighted. Today we’re going to be covering 5 simple steps that you can take to make sure your internal network is secure.
If you’re a business owner or an IT executive, it is your job to make sure that your technology and internal network stays protected. Here are 5 simple things that you can do to make sure that keeps happening.
#1 – Anti-Virus, or commonly referred to as AV. This can be your first line of defense. It’s very important that this is kept up to date and installed across all end-points on your network.
#2 – Security-Awareness Training: don’t assume that your employees know the difference between a phishing email and a regular email. Make sure you spend time and resources training them – it’s going to really help keep you protected.
#3 – Patching: keeping all of the software you use up to date, can really help keep security holes closed, and the bad guys out.
#4 – Backups: Making sure that all of your data is stored in a safe off-site location, can help insure that if a disaster does strike, you’ll be back up and running in no time.
#5 Restrict Admin Rights: I know it can be a pain in the butt, but practicing the principles of least privilege is a really good idea. This essentially means that people only have access to what they need to do there job.
Long story short, security is very important to your business, and if you don’t pay attention to it now, you could pay for it later.
