Worksighted Promotes Barry Rice to COO
Holland, MI, 01/27/19 – Worksighted, one of the fastest growing IT service companies in Michigan, has promoted Barry Rice to Chief Operating Officer. In his new role, Rice will lead company operations to ensure future growth, team alignment, increased efficiency, and financial strength.
“Barry has been instrumental to our growth since joining us in 2003,” said Mat Nguyen, president, and co-founder of Worksighted. “He understands what it takes to expand and has the insight to lead our teams on an aggressive path of strategic growth.”
Rice was the fifth employee to join Worksighted. He started as a business development associate and since has transitioned to business development manager, director of sales and marketing and the director of strategic growth before becoming COO. Rice earned his bachelor’s in management and communications from Hope College and a Master of Business Administration from Western Michigan.
“An important focus for me will be to create opportunities for the people of Worksighted to grow in their careers and find their passion,” Rice said. “If we want to grow as a company, we need to identify what drives each employee and allow them the space to excel in their roles.”
Worksighted uses a business management model called Entrepreneurial Operating Systems, or EOS. EOS focuses on goals and processes to support company growth. Under the EOS Model, Rice will now also serve as the company’s Integrator, taking over both the COO and Integrator roles from Mat Nguyen. Nguyen, who co-founded Worksighted with Mike Harris, has transitioned to the Visionary role for the company. In the Visionary role, Nguyen and Harris will develop new ways to better serve their clients and help them grow.
Rice started his new position on Jan. 1 and plans to spend the first quarter laying the foundation for 2019 and beyond, keeping the company’s staff in sync with customer needs and wants. He will also look at the big picture, analyzing where the company wants to go and implementing the steps needed to achieve those goals.
“A key component of my new role will be to identify roadblocks that our employees face and reducing them so they can better serve our customers,” Rice said. “We want to give our customers an experience beyond what any other IT service firm can provide.”
Rice co-founded Holland Young Professionals and serves as a head coach with USA Soccer Holland. He enjoys spending time with his family playing board games, traveling and enjoying the outside.
